05 & 06 June 2021, The Cathedral School, Townsville

Presented by the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music and hosted at the Cathedral School of St Anne and James, the CQ Schools’ Jazz Festival (Townsville) is a new addition in 2019, providing an opportunity for music students of North Queensland to engage in two days of inspirational music making. 

Featuring an expert panel made up of nationally respected jazz musicians / educators and staff from the CQCM, the CQ Schools’ Jazz Festival includes band clinics, an adjudicated performance for all participants, workshops for individual students and festival showcase concert. This event is open to small jazz ensembles (combos) and large jazz ensembles (big bands).
ADJUDICATED PERFORMANCES & CLINICS: These activities will be scheduled throughout the day (Saturday & Sunday). Admission to these events are FREE and the organisers of the event highly encourage audience attendance at the adjudicated performance and ask that in the spirit of the festival, teachers encourage their students to attend the adjudicated performance and clinic of the school directly prior to their own performance.
VENUE: "The Rock Centre", The Cathedral School (parking at the Thompson St. carpark entrance). Other clinics will be held in the Kardinia Rehearsal Space. 

CQSJF SHOWCASE CONCERT: This concert is open to the public and will feature performances from the participating ensembles, their teachers and the guest adjudicator/clinician. Entry to this event is $10 adults | $5 children/students, tickets at the door on the night, cash sales only.
